Story Behind The Book

The High Queen was prophesized over 400 years ago by Paerex the Navean. His prophecy threatened the king who exiled him from Caspin. Layla Burn is a normal girl with an unnatural illness that cannot be cured. She has grown up in Lexhir but now sets off to Agien to live with her Uncle who is an acclaimed healer with the hopes that he can cure her. What she doesn't know is that she isn't actually affected by an illnes and her Uncle can't cure her. Shayn Kayle is also from Lexhir, but at a young age he proved to be compatible with the Sync; a liquid that bonds with the bearers skin and allows him or her to control the environment. Shayn's path starts in Vetran, the country of Tiluse's capital, but quickly he is thrust into an adventure where, unbeknownst to him, he is not supposed to return from. Shayn and Layla's paths cross and so begins the rise of the High Queen.

Reviews

After picking up a copy of Awakening from a signing the author was doing in Brampton I found myself unable to put it down. I was reluctant to purchase a "fantasy" novel at first, but, once you start reading the book immerses you in the world of Tiluse. The novel is a surprisingly easy read and even the novice fantasy reader will easily become caught up in the storyline. It turns out this is Jamie William's first novel, but, after reading it you will understand it should be the first of many to come.
