About

I'm a native of Oklahoma City, graduated with a bachelor's degree in professional writing from Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. My first book was the thriller novel, Killer Cain, which was published in 2007. The Everyday Housewife: Murder, Drugs, and Ironing is my second novel- published on July 10, 2010. It was a bit of a challenge for me, seeing that it was written entirely from a woman's perspective. Yet, it turned out to be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. I am currently working on my third book entitled, Ben and Barbie: A Love Story, a semiautobiographical tale set entirely in Oklahoma this time.

Description

Have you ever seen a "work of art" worth millions, which looks like something your child just brought home from school?

The dual perspective of "Beauty Is in the Eye of the Beholder" and just a little bit of "The Emperor's New Clothes" is evident in this clever artwork story of a child who paints a fingerpaint print in class and then loses it in the wind on the way home.

Illustrated from the point of view of a child, whose identity is left to the imagination of the reader since all of the illustrations are what the child sees, the fingerpaint print is interpreted by official "judges" as well as by bystanders. Should people be influenced by what others see, or use their own self-esteem to make their own judgments? This coloring book version allows children to illustrate their own version of the book, and even to create a "masterpiece" of their own!

This is the fourth rhyming children's coloring book by this award-winning author, whose other bestselling books include David's ADHD, My Little Angel, The Golden Rule, Mice & Spiders & Webs...Oh My!, Manner-Man, Gimme-Jimmy, The Magic Word, Peter and the Whimper-Whineys and Santa's Birthday Gift.

About The Author: Former teacher Sherrill S. Cannon has won over 100 awards for her previous rhyming books and coloring books, and is also the author of 7 published and internationally performed plays for elementary school children. She has been called "a modern day Dr. Seuss." - GTMA Review

Story Behind The Book

When I started writing this book, I was going through the worst period of my life. My girlfriend broke up with me and I was about to lose my leg (perhaps even my life) to infection. I spent weeks in the hospital and was laid off from work for several months. About the only thing that kept my spirits up through the whole ordeal was writing this book and living through my main character, Katharine Beaumont, as she went on her little adventure. I thought for sure that this would be my last book- if I was lucky enough to finish it. But, now it appears that I will live to write another one. First, I want the whole world to know about Katharine- the woman who saved my life.

Reviews

"Hilariously funny in parts, yet suspenseful and moving in others, this is a great read. Whether a rainy day, a nighttime read or a vacation adventure, The Everyday Housewife: Murder, Drugs, and Ironing is fiction at its best. I see a great movie somewhere between the pages of this enthralling book. Author, Bryan Foreman, has done an exceptional job, not only writing from a woman's perspective, but also capturing the essence of Katharine Beaumont, the new American hero for women." GetBooksReviews.com

"What does an Oklahoma City housewife and mother of two teenagers have in common with a New York City feminist author, drug user, murderer, and Mafia accomplice? When you find out, you'll be as impressed with "The Everyday Housewife: Murder, Drugs, and Ironing" by Bryan Foreman as I was. Foreman wrote an iUniverse Editor's Choice award winning, out-of-the-box literary novel going far beyond just being called creative. In fact, the old adage about not judging a book by its cover actually set the bar high for me as I adored his choice of cover art, graphics and comic overtone. "Wow," and "Over-the-top" is all I can say about his work - a definite home run piece of wordsmithing genius." Gary Sorkin, Pacific Book Review

"Yes, for Katharine things are very different in New York City versus the suburbs of Oklahoma. Katharine also graciously shares the novel that she is working on with us. Truly a bodice ripping tale, it is like none that I have ever read before. Actually, "The Everyday Housewife" is also like no fictional novel that I have ever read before. I think that the author, Bryan Foreman, threw out all the standard rules on how to write fiction. As a result of this, "The Everyday Housewife," is one of the most unexpectedly entertaining novels that I have had the pleasure of reading. In this story, and the story within the story, nothing is as it should be, and I found myself totally unable to guess what was going to happen next. What a refreshing change from the usual fictional formats! I highly recommend "The Everyday Housewife" to readers who are feeling the need to "get away from it all!" It might make you think twice about doing so, or at least distract you enough to forget that you have the need to go." Paige Lovitt, for Reader Views

"If you're looking for the kind of fun, entertaining, and suspenseful book you don't see everyday, then The Everyday Housewife: Murder, Drugs, and Ironing is the wickedly delightful novel for you! Katharine Beaumont, the heroine of talented author Bryan Foreman's novel, is anything but an "everyday housewife," by the end of the book, though she starts out as one. If you like reading novels about everyday people whose strengths come out when they are tested, you're sure to love reading The Everyday Housewife by Bryan Foreman." Douglas R. Cobb

"The Everyday Housewife is a story that utilizes dark humor in an effective manner which helps to enhance and contrast each character's unconventional attributes. It is an entertaining and engaging character study that focuses on Katharine's growth from a mundane housewife to a risk taker with her own independent and unique outlook on life. I highly recommend `The Everyday Housewife' as a fun read that will keep readers satisfyingly engaged from start to end." Tracy Roberts, Write Field Services
