Brian Jeffreys was raised in Yukon, Oklahoma, the oldest of two children (before the country western star went and made it his home). He attended several universities pursuing technical degrees from engineering to astrophysics, finally graduating from Dallas Baptist University with a BS. After two decades working in high tech manufacturing, he went back to school to pursue a masters degree in mathematics.
While visiting a friend who had just co-written a book, Jeffreys decided to try his hand at writing. Over the course of three years he wrote four full length novels and tried several publishing venues. But at his core, he is a storyteller who loves to read and write good science fiction and adventure fantasy. His driving motivation is to never write something he wouldn’t want to read more than once.

Could you tell us a little bit about
yourself?
I've always been a Sci-Fi guy at heart, whether through gaming, reading,
or collecting gadgets. I also love learning, which is why I went to five
different universities before they finally awarded me a degree and sent me
away.
Ideally, I'd love to write full time, live in a Mediterranean villa overlooking
the sea, and go wind surfing on even numbered days. But alas, I won't be
able to achieve that dream until next Thursday.
And I'm constantly reading. In fact, it was because I felt the industry
had run out of good Science Fiction to read that finally pushed me into trying
my hand as an author.
Describe
your book ‘Fall of the Terran Empire’ in 30 words or less.
Talented ship's captain (and spy) devastates
the human empire by unleashing an alien juggernaut from an undiscovered wormhole
in space.
What was the hardest part of writing
your book?
Definitely the learning curve about the publishing industry was by far
the biggest challenge. Fortunately, I was able to get help from generous,
established authors to help me organize and develop my plotting and narrative
skills. But it was also tough to find a great editor and cover artist (on
an undiscovered author's salary).
What books have had the greatest
influence on you?
What a loaded question! Stars at War by David Weber and Steve White
whet my appetite for epic and military space opera, Azimov's Foundation series
of course, Elizabeth Moon's Paksenarrion trilogy, and every Star Trek or Star
Wars book that has been written.
Briefly share with us what you do to
market your book?
I started with BookBuzzr, NovelRank, and Wattpad which have been simply
amazing! Every time a book sells, BookBuzzr notifies me so I can see
which marketing projects are working best. I'm constantly on Twitter
working the hash tags which periodically lands me in Twitter daily newspapers
and helps get the word out.
- Author Website with book samples, blogs, and reviews
- Author pages and digital books on Freado, GoodReads, Amazon, Nook,
iBookStore, 99 cent network, Smashwords (coupons!)
- Facebook and blog ads (This scored me over 750,000 exposures to potential
readers)
How do you spend your time when you
are not writing?
Did I mention that I'm constantly
reading? I always have at least three books going at once.
Marketing and Social Media also take a lot of time. However, I love
spending time with my family and my church, especially with my wife and
autistic son, even if we're just watching old Firefly reruns together.
