Eric Hamilton, (Wilson)

After writing 22 mysteries for young readers, I decided to write a novel for adults under the pen name Eric Hamilton. My wife and I have always admired Princess Diana, so I decided to pursue a novel about the Queen of Hearts. It took four years to research and write.

Interview

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Writing as Eric Wilson I have created 22 mysteries for young readers (please visitwww.ericwilson.com).  All 22 remain in print, with 2-million sold in English and almost as many in Spanish.  These books feature adventure and suspense, so I challenged myself to write the same way for adults.  The resulting novel "Love and Death in Paris '97" has been enthusiastically received and a sequel is in the works.

For this novel I employ the pen name Eric Hamilton.

Describe your book ‘Love & Death in Paris '97’ in 30 words or less.

This suspenseful novel takes Daniel Plain to Paris in 1997.  His life is thrown into danger as he investigates the mysteries surrounding the last days of Princess Diana.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Planning the story took a lot of effort.  I wrote many plot notes -- hundreds of pages -- and carefully created every character.  I also did a special time line for the month of August 1997 so that I could incorporate the highlights of the developing romance between Diana and Dodi.  Readers have told me the story is so real that it's like they are living through every moment.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

Many books, starting with the Hardy Boys!  Those classic adventure stories inspired my love of words.  Now my goal is to promote literacy -- my books are written to be easily understood, and they are filled with colorful settings and compelling themes.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

BookBuzzr has been very helpful to our marketing efforts.  We also use social media, and have an attractive business card that displays the novel's front cover and our website www.Paris97.com.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

With my darling wife Flo, being a happily married couple and doings lots of fun things ( dancing, walking in the park, going to movies, etc.) in our beautiful city of Victoria, British Columbia.

What are you working on next?

Flo and I are updating our Eric Wilson Mysteries website to make it possible for fans worldwide to order all of the Eric Wilson Mysteries in both e-book and print formats.
