1. Could you tell us a
little bit about yourself?
I'm 87 years old and I am a semi-retired C.P.A. A few years ago I started
studying improv and comedy writing, including writing short humor stories.
2. Describe your book
‘The Love Life of Howard Handsome and Other Short Stories’ in 30 words or less.
You're never too old to laugh at stories about love and sex.
3. What was the
hardest part of writing your book?
My typing -- at first I typed my stories in all caps and no paragraphs.
Content editor Sigrid Macdonald edits my stories, finding my errors, my
mistakes in logic, etc. She gets a lot of credit for the final result.
4. What books have had
the greatest influence on you?
Rather than books, I would say musical theater has had the greatest influence
on my writing. I like the musicals whose stories are told with humor.
5. Briefly share with
us what you do to market your book?
In addition to BookBuzzr
Author Pro, I have a WordPress website -- www.AlZimblerComedy.com -- built by my daughter and granddaughter's
company Miller Mosaic LLC. I also hand out business cards about my books
and include links on my email signature.
6. How do you spend
your time when you are not writing?
Besides driving my family crazy, I attend lots of classes, including comedy
writing classes. I also teach senior improv classes and short story
writing classes.
7. What are you
working on next?
I now have two books in paperback and ebook formats -- THE LOVE LIFE OF HOWARD HANDSOME and BLOSSOM WINTERS IS DRIVING ON THE LOS ANGELES FREEWAYS. My third book is almost ready for publication. The working title is THE WILD ITALIAN WEDDING, and besides short stories will include poems and limericks. Plus I have plenty of written material to fill future books.
