1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Disney’s Cinderella was the first film I saw in the theater. At some point during the movie, my mother glanced over to find her small daughter in the midst of a hopelessly dreamy sigh. A born romantic from the get-go, I cannot resist a good love story, especially if there’s adventure and magic involved. When I wrote Echo in the Underworld, I wrote exactly the sort of story that little girl would have loved.
2. Describe your book Echo in the Underworld in 30 words or less.
When Echo Tenbrook accidentally tumbles into a lost world, she embarks on a perilous and magical quest to save her sister’s life.
3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
In my case, writing was not a challenge, but psychology was. To learn to defy that small voice that whispers discouragements in the dark recesses of one’s mind is a monumental feat of tenacity.
4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?
In no particular order: The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. The Far Pavilions by M.M. Kaye. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. Quiet: The Power of Introverts by Susan Cain, Nathaniel’s Nutmeg by Giles Milton. Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths by
Ingri d'Aulaire &,
Edgar Parin d'Aulaire, The Shadow of the Wind by
Carlos Ruiz Zafón. Time and Again by Jack Finney.
5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?
6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?
As mother to two young, energetic children, I’ve got plenty to keep me occupied. When I do have free time, I like to curl up with a juicy book or binge-watch TV shows on Netflix.
7. What are you working on next?
An Echo in the Underworld sequel is in the works and I am having a blast writing it!
