Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
For the most part I am a fairly private person. I have written for myself on and off all of my life. My written word has always expressed my inner world with much more understanding than my spoken word ever could.
I have always been a very sensitive and intuitive person, easily placing the emotions and motives of others. That being said, it is exactly why I decided to publish my work. It is very important to me that I not only express myself the way I have in Through The Trees, but also extend that journey to others.
At this stage in my life I am an incredibly happy person. I have finally reached a point when everything has fallen into place, my past is far behind me and I know longer carry a fear of obstacles or hardship ahead. I truly hope that my writings could offer the same to someone who has suffered the same hardships.

2. Describe your book Through The Trees in 30 words or less.
A poetic description of the stages of grief encountered at the end of a toxic relationship. Each chapter a stage, each poem progresses in a poetic story.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Reflecting on each stage allowed me to go through the process of grief that I very much needed to do to achieve happiness. It was very difficult to embrace letting myself feel everything that I had held back and at the same time It was freeing. There were moments in writing this book that I really committed and let go of those emotions. You would think that anger and depression would be the most difficult, but I think bargaining and acceptance were perhaps even harder. Once I began the chapter I had to truly let go of the chapter before and move forward. It was very therapeutic.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?
I think I draw from a book I read a very long time ago called Hinds Feet in High Places. Its a very spiritual book and lends heavily to Christianity. Although I am not very religious I really appreciated the journey of the story and can see how it has influenced my own writing.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?
I have created a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google plus, and also have my own website.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?
With my family. We are always working on something in our home. We love DIY projects. And I love giving my toddler new things to see and experience, that always makes my day.

7. What are you working on next?
I suppose it will be much like a sequel to my first book. Through The Trees is a journey of healing from toxic relationships. My next book will be about finding love after. It's titled, Reaching The Castle Wall. It, too, will be a journey. The next adventure is the journey to happily ever after.
