Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a poet and fantasy
writer from
Describe your book ‘Detecting Magic with Dick Hunter: The Mort des
Hommes Files’ in 30 words or less.
Magic, action, adventure, a wise-cracking
detective, a sinister villain, smart aleck elemental animal familiars, and a
hot chick who kicks butt. What more could you want?
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
This is my first book written from the 1st-person
point of view. I’m used to writing in 3rd-person. It was challenge to get used
to the 1st-person style, but I had fun writing in it.
What books have had the greatest influence on you?
Terry Brooks’ Shannara series was
one of the first fantasy books I read and have had an impact on me as a reader
and writer. I really love Gene Wolfe’s Solider of the Mist and
Fred Saberhagen’s Book of Swords series.
Briefly share with us what you do to market your
book?
I ran ads online and in print. I did interviews and
readings. I sent review copies to reviewers. I had some work published online
and used that as a marketing tool, and I go to conventions to sell and promote
my writing. I utilize some of BookBuzzr’s tools and features for my online
presence.
How do you spend your time when you are not
writing?
What are you working on next?
I'm editing the final book in the Good King Trilogy. The other projects I'm working on are stand-alone fantasy novel about the relationship between gods and men, a collection of poetry, a collection of sci-fi short stories about the tumult history of a city in the desert, a collection of short stories and poetry, and another free e-book of sci-fi and fantasy short stories. I'm also developing an online magazine of speculative fiction and poetry.
