In 2006, the military moved Kristina's family to a different state and she was not looking forward to starting over or kindergarten. She was shy, she didn't know anyone, and she missed her friends from preschool and from her old neighborhood. Kristina expressed her feelings to her parents, so her mother encouraged her to go to the computer and write a story about how she felt about kindergarten. Finding inspiration from Pinky, a pink stuffed Easter bunny that her grandmother, Grandy, had given her, Kristina began writing her first story! Everyone in her kindergarten class loved her story and so did Grandy! Grandy passed away a week after Kristina's 6th birthday and the story was put aside for years only to be read by family and friends. Although Kristina wrote numerous stories after her first book, Pinky Bunny's First Day of Kindergarten was still close to her heart.
