Description

Sometimes a novel is painfully true to life. I say this because I was beaten and bloodied in a staged incident where a half dozen people mobbed me, the circumstances being very similar to those described in my novel; The Swindle. The book looks at the topics of secretive programs that violate human rights and financial swindles; similar to the Exxon and Bernie Madoff scandals. The story includes a blending of research, real insights, and fictional portrayals in presenting a multifaceted story that sees an innocent man become a target for an insidious demise. Anthony Brina has it all; a successful career, a loving family, and community respect. But when the director discovers a flaw surrounding the controversial technology his company has developed, he begins receiving anonymous notes by someone watching him. This is the first strange incident which begins an ordeal that sees Anthony flee Canada, with the only person he can trust, his good friend Mina Kent; a report originally from California. A story that involves people following Anthony, and agent-like man watching him, insidious methods targeting him, surveillance on him, and a mysterious woman sent to intercept him to help, it travels from New York to Toronto, Geneva, Italy, the campus of MIT, and Los Angeles as various locations are visited: the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, United Nations Plaza in New York, the Sears Tower in Chicago, Lake Geneva in Switzerland, and, the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the cafes and trattorias of Rome. As the ordeal worsens for him, Anthony becomes broken in spirit and emotionally numb, learning his mother has suddenly died and that his family has shunned him, as his friend betrays him and disappears. He suffers physiologically for the methods targeting him, but still forges on in his only option; a plan with Mina to expose a cover up. With an assassin desperately killing people to get to Mina, will the cover up and swindle of over 90 nations be exposed and give Anthony his life back? * Intellectual Property Owner Seal # 109743 Frank Riganelli (Copyright © 2011 Frank Riganelli)
