A thoroughbred race horse collapeses and dies after finishing last in a race he was favored to win. Hours later the stallion's trainer, a young woman with a promising career, is found dead on a suburban Chicago beach.

A story in the New York times in the late 1970s became the germ of an idea for a film script. The script was not sold and I turned the story into a novel.
