Description

This book is a resource for teaching character building values inchildren.  It has been written for use in a public classroom.  However, these activities could be adapted for a Sunday school class, boys or girls clubs, home schooling, day cares or even used individually with a child by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, day care workers, and so forth.

There are activities for nine different character traits:  respect, responsibility, perseverance, caring, self-discipline, citizenship, honesty, courage and fairness.  These can be used as a character trait of the month for September through May or whichever months you choose.

Each lesson has a video, art activity or project and a song for each character trait specified for each special month.  The music has been kept as simple as possible and guitar chords are noted.  These can be used for autoharp or guitar.  The song-of-the-month can be used throughout the month to keep students aware of the character trait they are highlighting. There is an award sheet and refrigerator magnet craft for each trait plus paper bag puppet crafts for each character.

There are discussion questions to get the students talking about the lessons and sharing their experiences. Allow plenty of time for the students to interact with the video.
